The financial questionnaire is an online tool that permits the Financial Aid and Awards Service to assess your financial situation.

Unless your financial situation has changed, you need to complete it only once a year (it is valid from August 1 of one year to July 15 of the following year) for all the bursaries you are applying for and that require a financial questionnaire.

Please note that the financial questionnaire tool will be unavailable from July 15 to July 31 each year to allow for annual maintenance.

Q: Why do I need to fill out a financial questionnaire?
A: You must complete the questionnaire to provide an electronic budget when you are applying for bursaries based on financial need. Although some bursaries are still not linked to the financial questionnaire, most of them are. Please follow the instructions of the bursary you are applying for. If you are required to complete a financial questionnaire, be sure to do so or your application will be considered incomplete.

Q: Do I need to fill out a new financial questionnaire every year?
A: It depends. Your financial questionnaire is valid from August 1 of one year to July 15 of the following year. Therefore, if you are applying for more bursaries the following year, you will need to fill out a new financial questionnaire if these bursaries require a completed financial questionnaire.

Q: Do I need to fill out a new financial questionnaire for every bursary I apply for?
A: No. Your financial questionnaire is valid for each bursary that requires one. However, you are required to update the information you provided when you completed your last financial questionnaire if your personal situation has changed (i.e. additional income, moving, full-time to part-time status, etc.).

Q: Do I need to notify you if my financial situation changes (i.e. additional income)?
A: Yes. It is your responsibility to update the information you provided when you completed your financial questionnaire any time your personal situation changes.

Q: I am not sure I fully understand the question. Where can I get help?
A: First, look for a question mark icon to the extreme right of the question. If you see one, hover your mouse over it to read the help text associated with that question. If the information doesn’t answer your question or there is no icon, please email us at loansandawards@uOttawa.ca.

Q: My particular situation is not addressed in your questionnaire. How can I give you the details of my situation?
A: If you specific situation needs to be explained, please contact us at loansandawards@uOttawa.ca.

Q: What is the difference between the financial questionnaire and My Financial Portfolio?
A: The financial questionnaire is an electronic budget we require to assess your financial situation. My Financial Portfolio is your personalized online financial aid and awards record that provides you with answers on scholarships and bursaries, government financial assistance and the Work-Study Program.

Q: I have already completed a paper version of the questionnaire. Can I simply drop it off at your office instead of filling out the online financial questionnaire?
A: No. When a financial questionnaire is required, only the online document will be accepted in order to assess your financial situation.

Q: Once I have completed the financial questionnaire, will I be automatically considered for all bursaries based on financial need or do I still need to submit a bursary application?
A: You must definitely submit an application form for every bursary you qualify for and wish to be considered for. The financial questionnaire is required to assess your financial situation, but it does not constitute a bursary application.

Q: What are the minimum System requirements to access the Financial Questionnaire?

  • Firefox 2.0 or more recent
